A Louisiana State University freshman quarterback is recovering after he was found unresponsive following a car crash.The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to the accident involvingColin Hurley, 17,  just before 3 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 near the school’s campus,ESPNsaid, citing a crash report.Local news stationWBRZadded that “pieces” of the athlete’s Dodge Charger were found scattered along Highland Road near the school’s South Gates after the vehicle collided with a tree.Once EMS and fire department personnel arrived, the teen was transported to a Baton Rouge area hospital, ESPN added.Colin Hurley #16 of the LSU Tigers.James Gilbert/Getty"Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health and the many Tiger Fans for their care and compassion," LSU Athletics said in a statement shared with PEOPLE, on behalf of Hurley’s family.“Colin is resting and is stable while more tests and care are being administered. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident.“According to the news station, Hurley was in and out of consciousness when he was pulled from the wreckage.
