Mötley Crüe Delays Las Vegas Residency, Citing Singer Vince Neil Undergoing 'Required Medical Procedure'

Mötley Crüe’s Las Vegas residency will be delayed due toVince Neil’s surgery.

The bandshared the news about their residency’s postponement on Instagramon Tuesday, March 4, wishing Neil, 64, well as he undergoes a “required medical procedure” and thanking fans for their patience.

“To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring, I’m truly sorry. My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can’t wait to return to the stage,” Neil said. “Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.”

The other members of the band, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and John 5, shared a joint statement: “Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery. We are looking forward for him to get well again and to take over Vegas together in September. We can’t wait to see you all out there, and thank you for your understanding and support in the meantime.”

Mötley Crüe’s residency was scheduled to kick off on March 28, with 11 shows through April 19. The new show dates will take place Sept. 12 through Oct. 3. Tickets from the original dates will remain valid for the newly announced dates.

The bandannounced their Las Vegas residencyin October after planning to retire nearly 10 years ago, signing a Cessation of Touring agreement in 2015. “We were wrong in retiring, obviously,” Sixx, 66, told PEOPLE at the time.

“We want to just relook at our songs and [incorporate] songs that people have been asking us to play for a long time, maybe some B-tracks, some different tracks, and rethink the idea of an intimate evening with the band,” the bassist added.

“We’re in the early creative process, but we just don’t want to repeat ourselves. We want to do something special for Vegas.”

A portion of the ticket sales for the residency will be donated to theNevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

The news of Mötley Crüe postponing the delay of their residency comes weeks after Neil’s Learjet aircraft was involved in acollision in Scottsdale. Neil was not on his jet when it collided with another plane in the fatal incident, leaving one dead and several hospitalized.

Per a statementfrom Neil’s rep Worrick Robinson, IV, “for reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane.“It continued in part: “Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”
