A man is calling out his neighbors for not being very neighborly — and blaming their generation for the behavior.
“I’ve noticed that these millennials are all super antisocial,” the Reddit user, who is also a millennial himself, writes.
He describes his neighbors' habits of coming home and parking their cars in the garage until the next time they leave. He adds that they “never come out other than leaving the house to go somewhere or maybe mowing their lawn.”
The man tells the forum that it reminds him of living in an off-campus duplex during his college years because, similar to this situation, no one knew who their neighbors were “or even cared to know.”
One person defended his reasoning for avoiding his neighbors, saying that a “kooky old guy” named Jimmy came over after he moved in and introduced himself. After hearing the homeowner’s last name, the neighbor asked if he was related to a man named Vinny with the same last name. Turns out it was the commenter’s grandfather, and the two hadn’t seen each other in 30 years.
“Mind you, my grandfather got out of prison about 30 years ago, and he was in for a while, so Jimmy’s story is already raising some red flags,” the commenter continues. The man called his grandfather after meeting his neighbor and his grandfather told him, “Don’t talk to Jimmy, don’t let him near your wife, and don’t let him near your kid.”
“So I avoid my neighbors now,” the man writes.

Another commenter explained why they don’t socialize with their neighbors anymore saying, “They take it as their free pass to gossip about you as well.”
The person writes that they had a YouTube channel that explored haunted places. The commenter filmed at a local park that one of their neighbors was fond of. The “boomer” neighbor turned to Facebook Live to get their revenge for their park being portrayed as haunted.
“I also intensely don’t like the idea of being friendly with someone who always knows when I’m home and has the ability to turn up unannounced,” another commenter concluded.
Not every neighborly interaction is negative however. Homeowners have also been sharing sweet interactions with their neighbors from other generations on social media.
Recently, a man documented seeing a neighbor who is a single mom was in need of a fence on Tiktok,so he built one for her.
