What was supposed to be a day of celebration for a family in India on Wednesday turned into a nightmare when a son came home to find his parents and younger sister slain in the family’s home.
Arjun Kumar told police in South Dehli that he discovered his father Rajesh, his mother Komal, and his younger sister Kavita slain inside the family’s home early Wednesday morning after returning from his morning walk.
“I shivered when I saw the bodies,” a neighbor who helped Arjun told theTribune. “Their throats were brutally stabbed. It’s horrifying.”
Satish Kumar, Arjun’s uncle and the brother of Komal, told theTribunehis nephew called him around 7:30 in the morning, about two hours after discovering his family dead.
“I was devastated when I saw my sister, brother-in-law and niece lying lifeless,” Satish said, adding, “I froze upon hearing the news.”
The uncle told theTribunethat he knew of no disputes or conflicts that could have led to his sister, her husband, and their daughter’s deaths.

Kavita, 23, was a college student, according to theDeccan Herald. Her father Rajesh was retired from the army and was working as a local security officer.
“The mother-daughter duo were approachable and kind to everyone in the colony,” a friend of Kavita’s, identified only as Anjali, told theTribune. “It’s unimaginable that something so tragic could happen to them. Kavita and I would often discuss our studies. She used to help me whenever I struggled with something. Losing such a good friend is a pain I cannot put into words.”
Prakash Jarwal, a politician in the Delhi State Legislature, told theHeraldthat he visited the crime scene and said investigators believe “someone entered the house and stabbed the victims in their necks.”
“This is a very unfortunate incident,” Jarwal said. “His son asked me, ‘Who will I live for now?’”
