Mikayla Matthewsis adding another little one to her family!

“I wasn’t having any symptoms which made me think I wasn’t pregnant, because I usually get symptoms very early, like two or three weeks in. Then I take the test and it was instantly positive.”

She continues, “With my health stuff, I didn’t think I could get pregnant right now. My husband was with me when I took the test. He never really has much of a reaction to anything, but we were both pretty in shock. Then it set in and we got really excited. We’re definitely excited, nervous about my health and possibly passing anything on, but excited.”

The new arrival will join the couple’s three older children — daughters Tommie, 3, and Haven, 5½, and son Beckham, 7½.

So far, Matthews says this pregnancy has been “the most different” of all she’s experienced.

“I wasn’t sick at all, which I’m usually so sick in the beginning of my pregnancies. I’m throwing up like five to seven times a day, every time I eat. But this pregnancy hasn’t really had any of that,” she says.

“When we went in for my first ultrasound, I was about eight weeks, far enough along to where I’d be almost out of the woods with morning sickness. It’s a surprise this pregnancy hasn’t had any of that. It’s honestly been a blessing because I think I would die if I had to be so sick on top of my other health stuff and also filming the show,” she says.

“The main thing is I’m so exhausted. I feel like I’m meaner now too,” she says with a laugh. “When you’re pregnant, you just don’t care. Then those hormones start coming in and I’m like yelling at people and then apologizing.”

Despite being “short-tempered” at moments, Matthews says she’s had more energy. With that, she’s also feeling more anxiety.

Keeping an eye on her health is an important part of Matthews' everyday life. Her “roller coaster” health journey is something she’s prioritizing management of as she navigates this pregnancy.

That said, she’s not denying herself her cravings. “I feel like I’ve been eating for five people,” she jokes. “I’ve been craving savory stuff this time, which I normally crave savory with boys and sweet with girl.”

Matthews teases that the new addition may not be the last time the family grows. “It’s so wild to me that we’ll be a family of six. I feel like it’s the Mormon in me coming out,” she adds with a laugh.

“I’m excited to hopefully move into a new house. I want a big lot for my herd of kids. I’m excited for everything new and all the changes to come. I always say it’s my year of healing, because I’m manifesting it every year. This year, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Adding to our family too, it’s just so exciting.”
