Jackie Shroyer, the womanaccused of plotting to kill her husbandBeau Shroyer in a murder-for-hire scheme, has been charged with murder, according to a statement from her family’s church.

The Detroit Lakes, Minn. church Lakes Area Vineyard, announced on Monday, Feb. 24, that Jackie had been formally charged as a “co-author” in Beau’s death.

Lead pastor Troy M. Eason said in a statement, “It saddens me immensely to have to share with you that we were notified that Jackie has been formally charged as a co-author in the murder of her husband.”

The church announced that Beau was “killed in an act of violence while serving Jesus in Angola, Africa,” in October. He had begun serving a mission with his wife and five children at the time after COVID restrictions eased, SIM USA President Randy Fairman previously said in a statement.

Jackie was arrested along with two Angolan men — Bernardino Elias, 24, and Isalino Kayôo, 23 — in connection with her missionary husband’s killing. Another suspect, Gelson Ramos, 22, went on the run, theAngola Press Agency, a government-owned news outlet, citing Angolan police, reported.

According to the outlet, Kayôo and Ramos allegedly drove to the scene on the day of the murder and pretended to have car trouble before killing Beau.

Easton expressed “disbelief” at Jackie’s arrest in a previous statement. He added that the couple’s children “are well cared for and we will work alongside SIM USA and SIM Angola to ensure that continues to be the case.”

In avideoupdate from the church posted on YouTube on Feb. 17, Easton confirmed that a funeral for Beau was held on Nov. 30, 2024. He also shared that Jackie has “been able to have contact with her children at least once a week” since her arrest.

“[The children] have been back in the States now since early November and they have been slowly settling in with close family and receiving the very best care and attention from people they know and love well,” Easton said.

He added that the kids are being home-schooled and are “adjusting to life and their new reality.”
