Robinson said she had scheduled a parent-teacher meeting after her son’s teachers told her that her son experienced behavioral issues. But after receiving the footage, she reached out to the principal of the school instead.

One of the videos showed a teacher shouting at a student to stop punching Robinson’s son as another teacher appeared to chuckle. In a separate video, the boy, who is wearing a yellow jacket, is seen getting hit again.

Robinson claimed the teachers told the principal that they videotaped the classroom fight because “they were trying to record [her son’s] behavior in the classroom, but that video didn’t show anything about my son’s behavior. It showed children that was hitting on him.”

“He may have not been physically hurt, seriously hurt, but mentally he was hurt,” Robinson said. “Emotionally, he was hurt. His trust was hurt. He can’t trust anyone at the school.”

The two teachers are no longer working for the school district, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System confirmed to PEOPLE.

“Once school administration was made aware of the incident, immediate action was taken,” the school district wrote in a statement. “The district is actively reviewing the circumstances and will take all necessary steps to ensure accountability and reinforce our commitment to student safety.”
