Morgan Freemanrang in the new year with Al Green.
The Oscar winner spent Tuesday, Dec. 31 at his Mississippi bar Ground Zero Blues Club, where he got up on stage with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member to perform a duet rendition of Green’s 1971 signature song, “Let’s Stay Together.”
“I’m so in love with you / Whatever you want to do / Is alright with me / ‘Cause you make me feel so brand new / And I want to spend my life with you,” the two stars sang, grooving to the beat with massive smiles on their faces.
Freeman posted photos from the performance toX (formerly Twitter)and wrote, “We ushered in the New Year with Al Green and Kingfish at Ground Zero last night. Happy New Year, everyone!”
CNN’s Omar Jimenez shared a video of the moment tohis Instagrampage, writing in the post’s caption, “Morgan Freeman got on stage to make his ‘dream come true.’ He said it was to sing with Al Green.”
Freeman, who made another rare public appearance at the Los Angeles restaurant Georgio Baldi in November, appeared in the filmsMy Dead Friend ZoeandGunneras well as the seriesSpecial Ops: Lionessin 2024.
The actor will also appear next year inNow You See Me 3, as part of a star-studded cast that also includesJesse Eisenberg,Mark Ruffalo,Woody Harrelson,Ariana Greenblatt,Lizzy Caplan,Isla Fisher,Rosamund Pike,Justice Smith,Dominic SessaandDave Franco.

In September, Freeman presented his friendClint Eastwoodwith an award at the 2024 Monterey Jazz Festival in California.
“It was a great pleasure presenting my friend, Clint Eastwood, with the inaugural Clint Eastwood Award for Cultural Leadership at the@MontereyJazzFestivallast weekend,” hewrote on Instagram.
Freeman continued at the time, “Clint is a true musician: pianist, composer and a jazz aficionado! We had a wonderful time listening to the incredible music of Kyle Eastwood and Mavis Staples!”
