The Disney Treasure, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet expansion, will set sail in December 2024, embarking on its inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Florida.

The incident happened on Sunday, Nov. 10 around 230 miles off the coast of Bermuda, reported multiple outlets includingABC NewsandCBS News.

According to the outlets, the 50-foot catamaran got into trouble when it began to take on water after a gasket failure in its escape hatch.

This prompted the Disney Treasure — a brand-new cruise liner sailing from the Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida, ahead of its maiden voyage — to alter course at around 11:40 a.m. and race to the assistance of the stricken vessel, according to CBS News.

The cruise liner completed the 80-mile journey to the catamaran at around 1 p.m. and launched a small boat to bring the four-stranded crew members onboard, added CBS News.
