Quincie Pullen’s family wasn’t expecting to see her infant daughter on their doorstep, but they reacted to the unexpected visitor as if they’d been waiting forever.

Pullen tells PEOPLE her sister waited a long time for that moment: “She was so shocked when we showed up to the house. She was actually supposed to fly out later in the month to meet her, but we decided to surprise her instead!” the new mom says.

It took Pullen and Zach two days to drive from their home in St. Petersburg, Fla., to her parent’s place in Maryland. They split up the trip to make it an easier journey for Ella.
