Newly-Released Photos Capture Luigi Mangione Eating at McDonald's Before His Arrest

Mangione, 26, was capturedon Monday, Dec. 9 at an Altoona, Pa., McDonalds after an employee notified police, authorities confirmed to PEOPLE.

Police say theydiscovered him in possession of a 9mm “ghost gun” similar to that used to shoot Thompsonmultiple fake IDs. A police source tells PEOPLE he also had athree-page “manifesto"critical of the health insurance industry.

The suspect was arraigned in Hollidaysburg, Pa., and is being held without bail. He faces five charges in Pennsylvania, including two felony charges for forgery and carrying a firearm without a license. He did not enter a plea and his next court hearing was scheduled for Dec. 23.

He was later charged with murder in connection with Thompson’s Dec. 4 killing.

PEOPLE confirmed that Mangione has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a firearm.

Police said the suspect escaped the scene on an electric Citi Bike and headed towards Central Park.

On the bullet casings found at the scene,authorities discovered engravingswith the words “deny,” “defend,” and “depose.”
