Olivia Munn Reveals She 'Barely Knew' John Mulaney When She Became Pregnant with Their First Baby

Olivia Munnnever expected that she andJohn Mulaneywould start a family together.

“It wasn’t anything close to ‘dating,’ " Munn shares. “I barely knew him.”

“It wasn’t necessarily, ‘We’re going to be married and live together’ or any of that, but it was ‘I’ll be involved in some way,’ " she continues, telling the outlet that she assumed they’d co-parent since she lived in Los Angeles for most of the pregnancy and Mulaney was in New York City.

“That’s the one thing that made him seem light and happy. I remember he was really excited to tell his parents,” she says.

Two months before their son Malcolm was born, Munn and Mulaney decided to try and raise him as a couple.

In November 2021, Munn gave birth to the couple’s first child, son Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. PEOPLE confirmed the couple got married over the Fourth of July weekend in their friend’s home in New York this past July. Only their son and a witness were in attendance for the simple, intimate ceremony, a source told PEOPLE.

In September, couple welcomed their second child, daughterMéi June Mulaney, via surrogate

She added: “Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese.” In a separate post, Mulaney wrote: “I love my little girl so much.”
