Amy Ryan insists she doesn’t have many superstitions.

But there is one object that has never left her side since high school. “So when I graduated in 1986, a classmate of mine, playwright Amanda Gronich, handed me this troll doll and just said, ‘This doll will look out for you wherever you go,'” recalls theOfficealum, 56. “And I’m not too much of a superstitious person, but that troll doll has not left my side.”

Even when she travels, “I throw it in a suitcase,” she allows. “But it just sits on a shelf in my closet staring at me when I’m not.”

While the beloved doll has weathered with time, theSugarstar still considers it one of her prized possessions: “It’s old, and it’s lost its little hat, but I am very attached to this little doll.”

Last time I stayed up too lateI got up at 1 in the morning and went searching outside for a bracelet I’d lost, which I found. I even had a lantern like Ebenezer Scrooge. I was both scared and also like, “This is really nice.”

Last guilty pleasureA double scoop of cookies-and-cream ice cream on a sugar cone. I ask my daughter [Georgia Gracie, 14] at least twice a week, “Do you want to go for ice cream?” She always says yes, so it’s really for me.

Last time my dog made me laughIt’s kind of annoying, but Henry, our labradoodle, will stream the toilet paper out of the bathroom throughout the house. It was horrible during COVID when toilet paper was really hard to get. We were like, “Roll it back up!”
