Pete Davidson Reveals Why His First 'Major' Fashion Purchase Is a ‘Reminder of How Stupid I Was’

Pete Davidsonhad to hustle to keep up with his wardrobe when he first stepped into the spotlight.

“I didn’t know about taxes or paying your team or anything,” he told the outlet.

The purchase wasn’t a total waste, though.

“I still have them,” Davidson revealed. “They’re sitting in my closet, a reminder of how stupid I was. When I was 19, it was all about the ’fit — that was all that mattered. Now it’s health, family, humility, being a good person, not being a drug addict. Stuff like that.” he said of how his shopping habits have bettered in adulthood.

Davidson’s spending tendencies aren’t the only thing that’s matured. On his style evolution, he toldW Magazine: “If you Google any picture of me from ages 20 to 27, it’s purple shirts, fedoras, all these chains, and f—ing dumb Rolexes. It doesn’t look cool at all. But I’m very fortunate that I’m 31 now. Looking back. I’m lucky that I finally woke up.”

His newfound take on fashion is what led him to his latest gig as Doublesoul’s new creative director.

TheBodies Bodies Bodiesstar is taking the reins at thesock brandthat previously collaborated with models Ella Emhoff and Alex Consani.

“I’ve always dressed a little different and people seem to like it. I’m definitely open to doing more stuff, but I like to be behind the scenes. I’m not a big fan of celebs pushing stuff on people. It’s a big turnoff. To be behind any brand, you have to be super delicate and precise. If you put it out in the wrong way, it crushes it,” he said on what drew him to the role.

Over the years, Davidson has become synonymous with his streetwear-inspired ensembles. He’salso attended the Met Galathree years in a row (althoughhe toldGQthat he thought his first invite was a “joke”).

For hisdebut at fashion’s biggest nightin September 2021, he wore a Thom Browne suit featuring a calf-length skirt. In May 2022, he attended alongside his then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, whonotoriously wore Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday Mr. President” gown. The following May, Davidson, decked out in his signature bucket hat and shades, attended solo again, but had afriendly run-inwith Kardashian inside the party nearly one year after the pair’s split in August 2022.
