Nearly one month after a 19-year-old Walmart employee wasfound dead in a store’s walk-in oven in Halifax, Canada, authorities shared an update about their investigation.
TheHalifax Police Departmentannounced in a news release on Monday, Nov. 18, that investigators have determined the young woman’s death “is not suspicious and there is no evidence of foul play.”
The body of the teenage Walmart worker, lateridentified as Gursimran Kaur, was discovered on Oct. 19 after police responded to a “sudden death” at the store, Halifax Regional Police said in an Oct. 21news release.
Inanother update shared a day later, police said that Kaur was found in a large walk-in oven belonging to the store’s bakery department.
Investigators have met with the young woman’s family “to share this update and extend condolences,” according to police on Monday, who said, “Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.”
Police previously said that “the investigation is complex” and might “take a significant amount of time.”

“We urge the public to be mindful of sharing speculative information on social media. Please be aware of the impacts that speculation could have on family, colleagues and loved ones of the woman,” the department added.
A member of the Maritime Sikh Societyconfirmed to PEOPLE that Kauis an immigrant from India. The organization also established an online fundraiser for Kaur’s family.

According to the GoFundMe description, Kaur and her mother had worked at the Walmart location for two years.
On the evening of Oct. 19, Kaur’s mother allegedly tried to find her daughter after not having seen her for about an hour, the fundraiser’s organizers wrote. She grew worried when Kaur’s phone was unreachable.
The Maritime Sikh Society then alleged that Kaur’s mother eventually discovered her daughter inside the oven.
As of Oct. 25, the campaignraised more than $140,000and had stopped accepting donations.
“This family’s sufferings are unimaginable and indescribable," read a message on the fundraiser. “They need your support to get through this horrific time.”
“Our deepest thoughts are with our associate and their family,” Ross said. “Our focus remains on taking care of our associates and making sure they have the support they need.”
The store temporarily closed after the incident but reopened on Monday, accordingto the CBC.
