It’s been an exciting week for Princess Beatrice, as the palace announced on Oct. 1 that she and her husbandEdoardo Mapelli Mozziare expecting their second child together. Princess Beatrice and Edo, 40,married in July 2020and are parents to daughterSienna, 3, andChristopher Woolf, 8, Edo’s son from a previous relationship.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna,” Buckingham Palace said in the statement. “His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
The second shot was especially memorable as it marked the first image the palace has released of Sienna, who was born in September 2021. Princess Beatrice doesn’t maintain a public social media presence, and she and her husband have never shown their daughter’s face online. However, royal watchers were charmed that the couple put their kids at the heart of their announcement and that the palace used Christopher Woolf’s family nickname, Wolfie.
Edo descends from Italian aristocracy, and Beatrice became an Italian “Contessa” and “Nobile Donna,” or noblewoman, when they got married. As the eldest son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, he is expected to inherit his family’s ancestral seat, the 18th-century Villa Mapelli Mozzi palazzo in northern Italy.
