Remi Bader is mixing up tradition.

The 29-year-old content creator opened up in a visibly emotional post shared to herInstagram Storiesabout opting to spend Thanksgiving solo, while simultaneously sharing a supportive message to her followers who are in “similar” situations this year.

“I am definitely an over sharer so for once I’m not going to, but sometimes you need to set your boundaries and do what’s best for you and your mental health. Spending today alone was not the plan but what I felt I needed to do for me,” she began.

“Now I simply do need a Thanksgiving dinner because it’s my FAVORITE meal of the year so if anyone knows any nyc restaurants that serve dinner tonight…” she wrote, along with a sticker that allowed her followers to respond with suggestions.

On TikTok, Bader spoke to the camera at length and vocalized a message similar to the one she wrote on Instagram directed to her listeners who were also spending Thanksgiving alone. She noted that there could be “so many reasons” if that’s the case — and “for me I won’t share,” she said.

The social media personality put forth the possibility that her reasoning may stem from “not wanting change” from when she was younger, but acknowledged that it’s “okay to realize that” if those feelings arise. “I needed to be alone,” she said.

“I was very upset about that and just couldn’t believe that my thanksgiving isn’t going to be the same as it always was, but I just switched my mindset… I decided that I was going to go out to dinner alone,” Bader continued, before explaining that she opted to go with takeout from a recommendation she received instead.

“I decided that I’m tired, decided to get myself a glass of wine, light a candle and watch the new Lindsay Lohan movie — and because I love thanksgiving so much, I decided to find somewhere that offers a Thanksgiving dinner,” she explained, then noted she spent $64 on a meal.

Bader went on to show off her Thanksgiving order with a haul, featuring all the holiday staples like turkey and pumpkin pie. “I know it’s a little pricey. $64 I get it. It’s pricey,” she joked, but noted that she “made an amazing decision” with her purchases.

“I just want to say to anyone else. Maybe you’re going through some s—, because we all are, um and personal stuff, your thanksgiving does not need to look like everyone else’s,” she said. “I love you, I’m thankful for you, happy Thanksgiving,” she concluded before toasting her wine glass to the camera.

Bader’s Thanksgiving posts came a few days after she opened up on her social media to explain why she’s been choosing to post food-related content and addressed where she stands in her mental health journey.

“I still do have a pretty messed up mindset when it comes to food, but it’s so much better,” she continued. “So I’m enjoying being able to eat all different kinds of foods and that’s why I’ve been wanting to share this. Hope that helps.”
