Renée Zellweger's Latest Look Proves Exactly Why Capri Pants Are So Reasonable for Spring

Dear Diary, we’ve fallen in love — withRenée Zellweger’s pants.

At a photo call for the fourth installment of theBridget Jonesfranchise,Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,the 55-year-old actress stepped out in a black blazer, black turtleneck, and pair of capri pants that were proper cool. The leather-like bottoms (and the outfit as a whole) couldn’t have been further from something her historically un-chic character would wear — but we’re still going mad for them.

Capris are super spring-forward since they’re cooler than full-length pants, but the coverage is better than you’d get with a pair of shorts. And since the spring usually involves more time outdoors, capris’ shortened hem won’t collect debris from the beach, the garden, or anywhere else.

While Zellweger’s capris looked sharp, they may be a little too formal to wear around the house. In that case, something like these under-$50 fluid cotton pants may be a little less restrictive and more comfortable. The waistband has “just the right stretch to feel secure without squeezing,” and “the fabric is breathable and lightweight but not thick like sweatpants,” wrote one shopper. They’re also “never binding” and “don’t stretch out,” added another.
