“Chippin down di road with my@TenToOneRumcup & dancing with the people of Trinidad in Carnivale will forever be one of my most treasured moments!” Ciara wrote in her post. In 2021, the singer became an investor and co-owner of the rum brand along with Marc Farrell, the company’s CEO and founder who hails from Trinidad, according toForbes.
In an interview with local outletLoop News, Ciara explained that Farrell encouraged her to visit Port of Spain, the country’s capital, for the annual festivities in the lead-up to Ash Wednesday. Locals and visitors alike gather to “chip” or dance in the street as they follow bands, dance to soca (a genre of music that originated in Trinidad) and celebrate, despite the heat.
