Sam Claflin's 2 Kids: All About theDaisy Jones & The SixStar’s Son Pip and Daughter Margot

On-screen,Sam Claflinis best known for portraying a heartthrob, but in real life, he’s a dedicated father to his two kids.

In a joint statement on their respective Instagram Stories, the pair emphasized their dedication to their children. “We will move forward with nothing but love, friendship and a deep respect for one another, whilst we continue to raise our family together,” the statement said in August 2019.

Talking about his role onDaisy Jones & The Six,he explained that he was able to under his character, Billy Dunne, as a husband and father. “The obstacles he has to overcome, like becoming a dad and the fear or anxiety that brings, feeling like you might fail … [That] is something I can massively relate to,” he shared.

Both Claflin and Haddock have kept their son and daughter firmly out of the spotlight, butThe Nightingaleactor has often talked about his love of fatherhood.

“I definitely have ambition. Number one is family,” he toldThe Telegraphin June 2018. “It was paramount to me to have a family, to be a young, fun dad.”

Afterannouncing the pregnancya month prior, Claflin and Haddock welcomed their son, Pip Claflin, onDec. 8, 2015.

Though the pair publicly celebrated their first child’s arrival, they declined to share photos or details of the newborn for several months.

Later that December, Claflin told PEOPLE that he had a new understanding of the depth of parental love.

“I always thought, naïvely, that I knew what it would be like,” he said. “[But] it’s like another level of love that you’ve never experienced before — [that] you can’t describe to someone unless [they’re] in it.”

Despite its challenges, theMe Before Youstar shared that he still enjoyed fatherhood and all it entailed.

“Of course it’s hard, [but] it’s all worth it," he continued. “The rewards are just endless. He’s literally the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

After fulfilling a lifelong dream to become a dad, the personal milestone also strongly impacted Claflin’s career choices. TheAdriftalum toldHarper’s Bazaarin January 2018 that having kids made “the psychology of acting” even more appealing to him.

“I am going to be responsible for the early development of someone’s mind and I think that makes me want to understand as much as I possibly can about mental health,” he said. “I want to have a clearer, better understanding of the world.”

Claflin and Haddock welcomed their second child, daughterMargot Claflin, on Jan. 6, 2018.

TheEnola Holmesstar announced the arrival of his daughter three weeks after she was born, confirming her sex, during an episode ofThe Chris Evans Breakfast Show. “It’s happy news,” he said. “She’s very new and shiny. I, however, am not.”

Six months later, Claflin revealed her name for the first time. “Ok, her name is Margot!” he toldThe Telegraphin June 2018.

The actor went on to explain that he and Haddock wanted to be hands-on parents despite their busy schedules. After opting not to hire help, they took turns working and leaned on the support of loved ones.

That same month, theDaisy Jones & The Sixstar opened up to PEOPLE about his growing family, noting that he was “always” open to having more kids.

“There’s a sentence that involved the word ‘children’ and not ‘child’ and I just went, ‘Oh, wow, it’s plural. There’s two of them.’ All of a sudden, we became a family,” he said. “It’s amazing. I love it.”

After six years of marriage, Claflin and Haddock split and announced their separation in August 2019. “I think being a parent, on my own — and proving that Icando it on my own — has been challenging,” he told theGentleman’s Journalin March 2021.

Two years later, Claflin further opened up toGQabout how world events affected decisions he made for himself and his family.

“During Covid I really f—ing struggled with the kids and, mentally, where my life was,” he told the outlet in March 2023. “Working through that, I’ve started getting to a point where I’m not afraid of saying no anymore.”

Amid the pandemic, Claflin was living in London, learning to play the guitar for his role inDaisy Jones,homeschooling Pip and potty-training Margot. Ultimately, though, the fact that filming forDaisy Joneswas pushed back was helpful.

“It gave me time to come to terms with being a single parent,” the actor toldThe Telegraphin February 2023. “We had to learn how our dynamic was going to work. It was me learning how to run a household plus looking after two toddlers.”

Today, Claflin and Haddock have maintained an “amazing” co-parenting relationship.

“We live close together in Buckinghamshire. We’re just very supportive as a unit. We’re grateful that we have two very understanding and well-behaved – to a point – kids,” he said. “We’re the same but we’re in two different houses. We’re still a family.”
