Scholastic revealed the cover on Wednesday, Oct. 16 forSuzanne Collins' highly anticipated new book titledSunrise on the Reaping— which will follow beloved character Haymitch Abernathy on his journey through the games.
“The spiky sun rises on a symbol that will come to mean a lot to Haymitch Abernathy, as well as countless readers," David Levithan, vice president, publisher and editorial director for Scholastic, described in a press release shared with PEOPLE.

Along with unveiling the book’s cover, Collins teased what fans can expect in the new novel which follows her latest prequel,The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
“The story also lent itself to a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative,” she continued. “The question ‘Real or not real?’ seems more pressing to me every day.”

With the event, “fear grips the districts of Panem,” including Haymitch who only cares about “making it through the day and being with the girl he loves.” However, as twice as many tributes get drafted into the games, he finds his own name being called and his dreams breaking apart, the synopsis adds.
In June, following the announcement of the new book, Lionsgate announced thatSunrise on the Reapingwould be adapted into a movie set to release in November 2026, following the success ofThe Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
