Sigourney Weaverreceived some unexpected guests at her show.
In avideo shared on Instagram, Weaver, who plays the role of magician Prospero in the Shakespeare play, was seen sitting onstage as she engaged in dialogue with a fellow cast member.
However, things took a turn when twoJust Stop Oilsupporters, holding a large orange banner that read “Over 1.5°C Is a Global Shipwreck,” stood onstage.
While Weaver’s castmate apologized and walked off stage at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the two-timeGolden Globe-winning actress was escorted off before staff came out and appeared to ask the protesters to leave.

As the protesters ignored the boos and pleas for them to leave, confetti fell from the sky. The protesters then turned with the staff member and headed offstage, causing the crowd to cheer.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Metropolitan Police stated in apress releasethat two people had been arrested following the protest.

“At around 20:00hrs two Just Stop Oil protesters entered the stage area at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, WC2,” the release states. “Police attended but both had left the venue.”
Officials added that a 42-year-old woman and 60-year-old man “were subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass after attending a central London police station on Tuesday, 28 January.” They both remain in custody.

“We’ve already done past the 1.5-degree threshold that was supposed to keep us safe,” the voice continued. “At 1.5 degrees of warming, we already have devastating storms, uncontrollable wildfires and too much loss of life.”
The presentation went on to allege, “Governments serve greedy corporations and continue to prioritize power and profit over saving our lives. We need them to get on with their job and serve the ordinary people they were supposed to protect.”
