Peter Koukov, one of the passengers on board, toldCNNwhat it was like to evacuate the plane as a fire broke out when it hit the runway.

He told the network that he “didn’t know anything was the matter” until it felt like the plane had turned sideways. Koukov recalled how the aircraft came to a standstill and suddenly, “we were upside down hanging like bats."

While he was able to stand upright after unbuckling himself, he noted how other passengers needed help getting down from their seats, but were ultimately all successfully evacuated with the help of the flight attendants and first responders.

The FAA said that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be handling the ongoing investigation into how the crash occurred.
