Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan's Son Augustus, 8, Almost Hit by Car Crashing Into Singer's Tea Shop

Billy Corgan’swifeChloe Mendel Corganis sharing an update after a car crashed into the couple’s tea shop.

“This afternoon at Madame Zuzu’s, a car (in circumstances which remain under investigation) drove over the curb and into Madame Zuzu’s, crashing through the window and sadly injuring one person — my mother Jenny; who was spending the day and lunching with my son Augustus,” Mendel Corgan wrote.

“Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way and was not injured,” the expectant mom of two wrote, adding that the shop would be closed until further notice.

In addition to running Madame Zuzu’s with Corgan, Mendel Corgan is the CEO and co-creative director of House of Gilles, a Haute Couture house launched this year alongside her famed father, Gilles Mendel.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, Mendel Corgan shared another update on herInstagram, saying that her mom was home and recovering and that Madame Zuzu’s would be open.

“We are overjoyed to announce that our family is growing!” the soon-to-be mom of three told PEOPLE. “It’s an exciting time for us, although unexpected!”

“Now, both kids are beaming, and it makes it so much fun to share the joy of bringing more love into our family. We are truly blessed.”

Corgan and Mendel Corgan have been together since 2012 andgot engagedin September 2022 on Mendel’s 30th birthday.

The couple exchanged vows in September 2023. Sharing the news along with a video from the day in a joint Instagram post, the two thanked the many people who helped make their special day perfect.
