Sophia BushandHilarie Burtonreally are two peas in a pod, so much so that even their onscreen storylines are starting to mirror each other.
Calling her a “smoke show,” Capshaw described Burton, who she “made out with a little bit,” as “one of the loveliest humans on the planet” as she recalled working with her during season 9 in 2013.
“She came over toGrey’s, and she knew she was playing someone who was gonna upset the apple cart. And…I was imagining most people would come in a little sort of, like, on tenterhooks and be like, ooh, I’m gonna come in and play this part. And she was not. She was, like, bold and smart and sassy. And she just took over.”

Luddington, 40, then asked if Burton had given Bush any advice ahead of her ownGrey’sdebut last month, as Bush’s character Dr. Cass Beckman similarly came into the show “to mix some s— up.”
“I mean, God. I remember us talking about it then because we were so excited for her to be on the show because it was a show we’d loved while we were making [One Tree Hill],” Bush remembered. “And I texted her and was like, ‘Girl, what kind of, like, fun voodoo do we have going that now I get to go and kiss a pretty woman onGrey’salso?’”
“And it feels right,” she continued. “It’s like… it’s very adjacent energy for us, and that feels great.”
Bushmade her debut as Dr. Cass Beckman on the Nov. 7 episode— and stirred things up as she kissed Teddy (Kim Raver) during a night out amidst Teddy’s ongoing strife with Owen (Kevin McKidd).

“I walked onto set and was like, damn. 21 seasons in, everyone is on time. Everyone is excited. Everybody cares about everybody. People are trading pictures of kids and making sure people have what they need, and everyone shows up to the table read and gives it their absolute all. "
