Aaron Korsh is not mincing his words when it comes toSuits LA.

The 58-year-old, who createdSuitsand is now helmingits West Coast spinoff series, answered fan questions on X on Jan. 26, and he set the record straight on some speculation about how the show will standalone while also paying tribute to the original series.

In response to a fan’s concern about the potential forSuits LAto “ruin” the names of some original characters, he praised the “great” spinoff ensemble, which includesStephen AmellandBryan Greenberg, as hewrote, “Not trying to replace our beloved originals. Just a new crew working in a different city handling different kinds of cases.”

He continued to emphasize that the spinoff is its own standalone project, as hewrotein another tweet, “It seems like people are all wishing it was the originals back. I expected this and can’t blame them. I can only hope they give #SuitsLAan open-minded try. If they do, I really believe they will grow to love it.”

ThoughSuits LA"does have overlap" with the original series, whichconcluded in 2019 after nine seasons, Korshwrotethat it is “100% its own thing.”

“If you liked the original and give this a fair shot, I find it hard to believe you won’t come to love it,” he said.

Korsh also weighed in onGabriel Macht returning as Harvey Specter, which was confirmed in November, as well as the possibility of more cameos from someSuitsOGs. “The network very much wanted one original member. If you watch, you’ll see that from a story standpoint Harvey made the most sense,” he wrote.

He also revealed in that tweet that he initially wrote the show “as its own thing, not aSuitsspinoff.”

As for the chances that familiar faces likePatrick J Adams' Mike,Sarah Rafferty’s Donna orMeghan Markle’s Rachel could appear in the spinoff, he said that “remains to be seen” but he’s “open” to the idea. His main priority right now, as he made clear, is to “launch these characters on this show.”

Suits LAsees Amell as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who “has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” according to an official synopsis.

Black’s firm is at a “crisis point,” though, and “in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career.”
