An afternoon getting to know his new surroundings turned into an unforgettable nightmare.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., a horse named Deuce and his owner, who had just moved to the area from Hawaii, slipped into a steep embankment. While both Deuce and his owner were uninjured, Deuce could not walk up and climb out of the brush-covered slope on his own.

The caption continued, “Deuce was exhausted for quite some time after the sedative wore off and had trouble standing up — with pressure mounting to get him to his feet as soon as possible to survive — so our Technical Rescue Firefighters delicately hoisted him with a specialized rigging system.”
“Thanks to a true team effort,” OCFA concluded. “Deuce is recovering in what the vet describes as ‘nothing short of a miracle’ and is looking forward to riding the trails of Orange County again!”
