Survivorseason 47 wrapped up on Dec. 18. For the past three months, one of the 18 castaways’ “adventure of a lifetime” was cut short every week, starting with the Sept. 18 elimination ofJon Lovett— aPod Save Americaco-host and Barack Obama’s former speechwriter.

Throughout their 26 days on Fiji, the contestants have voted off each other at tribal councils, sometimes via brutalblindsides. Heading into the two-hour finale, four castaways were left to fight for the coveted title of Sole Survivor: Rachel, Sam, Sue and Teeny.

After Rachel won the final immunity challenge, she chose Sue to go to the final 3 with her, leaving Sam and Teeny to compete in a fire-making battle to earn the last spot. Sam beat Teeny in fire-making, rounding out the final 3.

At final tribal council, Rachel earned 7 of the 8 jury votes, defeating Sam (1 jury vote) and Sue (0), to become the Sole Survivor of season 47.
