Tank to Make Broadway Debut in Alicia Keys MusicalHell's Kitchen: 'A Dream Come True'

Durrell “Tank” Babbshas reached a new milestone in his celebrated 25-year career.

Dixon will exitHell’s Kitchenon Sunday, March 9. Tank begins his 13-week engagement on Tuesday, March 11.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage is a dream come true," Tank said in a statement. “Music and acting have always been a part of my journey, and now, I get to bring them together in a whole new way. The energy of live theater is unmatched, and I’m honored to join this incredible cast and be part of telling this powerful story through Alicia Keys’ music.”

‘This transition is both thrilling and humbling, and I can’t wait to give audiences everything I’ve got!" he added.

Keys, 44, also shared her excitement for Tank’s role. “From songwriting to producing to performing, Tank brings so many talents to the table as a multi-faceted artist,” she said. “We are thrilled he has chosen to make his Broadway debut atHell’s Kitchenand we can’t wait to show audiences the power and vulnerability he brings to the role of ‘Davis.’ "

As a songwriter and producer, he’s collaborated with some of the industry’s biggest names — from Beyoncé and Aaliyah to Fantasia, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson. And his own releases have included eight No. 1 singles: “Can’t Let It Show,” “I Deserve,” “Slow,” “See Through Love,” “Before We Get Started” and “When We.”

Hell’s Kitchenopened in April 2024 at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre, after premiering Off-Broadway in October 2023 at The Public Theater in New York City.

Moon will play their final performance as ‘Ali’ on Sunday, March 30. Understudy Jade Milan will assume the role through May 25, with Gianna Harris serving as the ‘Ali’ alternate. Additional casting for ‘Ali’ will be announced at a later date.

Lewis is still with the production, starring alongside Jessica Vosk and Phillip Johnson Richardson.
