Tate McRae Recalls Almost Getting 'Eaten by a Whale' with Boyfriend The Kid LAROI While Jet Skiing

Tate McRaeand her boyfriendThe Kid LAROIhad a close encounter with a whale over the summer.

The “Greedy” singer, 21, shared details about the moment she’ll likely never forget during a guest appearance onThe Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hillon Wednesday, Oct. 9.

“I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into,” McRae said of going jet skiing with the Australian rapper, also 21. “You know you have trust in your boyfriend, but also jet skis are the worst. They flip over every two seconds.”

After she and LAROI landed in the water, the couple found themselves roughly “10 feet away” from a large whale, according to the “Run for the Hills” singer.

“It was the big moment of our trip,” McRae said. “I was like, ‘We nearly just landed in a whale’s mouth!’ ”

“That’s so freaky to me, the ocean is just a really freaky thing to me. You’re just in there and it’s black and your toes are dangling and that’s so weird,” the singer said. “I got that feeling when we fell in the water and you’re just tingling at the bottom of your feet and you’re like, ‘We could die right now.' ”

McRae and the “Nights Like This” artist first sparked dating rumors earlier this year after being spotted out together on several occasions. They later made itInstagram officialfor her latest milestone birthday.

“happy 21st birthday 🥲❤️,” LAROI wrote on a photo of them kissing. “you make me better! I love yoooouuu @tatemcrae.”

In August, LAROI appeared as a surprise guest to perform with McRae for a duet of his hit song “Without You” during her sold-out Think Later World Tour stop at Madison Square Garden.

“I was fooling around today a bit in soundcheck, and there was someone backstage,” she told the crowd before LAROI appeared onstage. “Would you guys be OK if I brought someone out to sing a song with?”

During their duet, McRae and LAROIshared a kiss.

“I’m so proud of you, and you have so many people in here that love you. I’m one of them,” he said in front of the audience.

Once the show ended, the couple was seen in New York City’s NoHo neighborhood for a date night.
