The Lost Boysis the latest movie to be turned into a Broadway musical.
On Monday, Jan. 27, producersJames Carpinello,Marcus ChaitandPatrick Wilsonannounced a stage adaptation of the beloved 1987 horror comedy, set to opened in Spring 2026 at the Palace Theatre in New York City.
No casting for the production was named, but the musical will feature a score from Kyler England, Adrianne “AG” Gonzalez and Gabriel Mann of indie rock bandThe Rescues.
“From the outset, we imagined a production with soaring melodies, creative storytelling, haunting themes, and an original score that had to be as impactful as the legendary soundtrack of the film. A tall order — but we found all those things, and more, with The Rescues," Carpinello, Chait and Wilson said in a statement. “And while they’ve created an epic new score full of original songs, we’re thrilled that they’ve also been able to breathe new life into a few of their existing melodies, reworking them forThe Lost Boysin ways that devoted fans of the band are sure to appreciate.”

Tony winnerMichael Arden(Maybe Happy Ending) — who Carpinello, Chait and Wilson call “one of the most dynamic directors working today” — will direct. He’ll collaborate again with choreographers Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, whom he worked with on the 2023 revival ofParade.
Other members of the creative team include Ethan Popp (music supervisor), Dane Laffrey (scenic designer), and Tony winner Susan Hilferty (costume design). Devin Keudell will serve as executive producer.
The Lost Boysfollows brothers Michael and Sam Emerson (Jason Patric and Corey Haim on screen), who move with their divorced mother (Dianne Wiest) to the fictional town of Santa Carla, California, only to discover the town is a haven for vampires.
Since its release, the film has developed a fan favorite following, many embracing it for its depiction of a younger generation of vampires well beforeTwilight,Buffy the Vampire SlayerandTrue Bloodmade the niche a staple in the genre. Two film sequels (2008’sLost Boys: The Tribeand 2010’sLost Boys: The Thirst) followed, as well as two comic book series.
Meanwhile, a private, invitation-only industry presentation ofThe Lost Boys, A New Musicalwill take place on March 14. Official Broadway dates and casting will be announced soon.
