On Sunday, Feb. 9, the actor, 65, shared a powerful post onInstagramto mark five years since his organ failure.
Sharing a photo of himself and his daughter Quinn dressed in semi-formal wear, he wrote, “Last night was the Dad/Daughter Dance and the 5th anniversary of my organ failure. It’s great to be alive❤️.”
Arnold shares Quinn and son Jax withhis ex-wife Ashley Groussman.
TheRoseannealum opened up to PEOPLE in 2022about losing 75 lbs. after being told he had a mini-stroke and “massive organ failure.”

The actor also said he would often dig around the kitchen late at night after he put his children to bed.

He realized he needed to make lifestyle changes after temporarily losing vision in his right eye while giving his children a bath, he said. Though parts of his vision returned before he went to bed, he called his ophthalmologist and underwent various tests.
He suffered a mini-stroke shortly thereafter and underwent more testing.

“They said I hadn’t had a major stroke and they couldn’t see any problems, but as a 63-year-old single father of a 9- and 6-year-old, it was scary,” theTrue Liesstar said. “On top of all of this, two years ago I had massive organ failure. My doctor changed my medication, but I knew I needed to make bigger changes because I really dropped the ball on self-care these last few years.”
In April 2023, Arnold told PEOPLE that his kids have been a major source of inspiration amid his health journey.
“Unless I’m more patient than I ever thought I could be, or whatever, it’s very helpful to not assume, well, I’m going to live for 30 years,” Arnold continued. “Because it’s very helpful to go, okay, today’s the day. Today’s the day that is going to be the best day. Because if somebody has to think back on this day with these kids, I want them to know I was here, we were together, and I was 100%.”
