Tom Holland Asked Zendaya's Father for 'Permission to Propose' Before Engagement, His Dad Reveals

Tom Holland’s fatherDominicis sharing details of his son’sengagementtoZendaya.

On Friday, Jan. 10, comedian Dominic Holland shared ablog post on his Patreon accountin which he contrasted how Tom’s approach to proposing to Zendaya, 28, differed from how he proposed to Tom’s mom Nikki, whom hemarriedin 1994.

Dominic wrote that theSpider-Manactor, 28, was “very incredibly well prepared.”

“He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter,” wrote Dominic,who also shares Harry, Sam and Paddy with Nikki. “Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear….”

A family source confirmed to PEOPLE on Jan. 6 that theSpider-Mancostars were engaged. A separate source told PEOPLE Jan. 6 that “everyone close to them knew an engagement was happening” but not when, adding that Holland wanted to propose to Zendaya “for a while.”

News of Holland and Zendaya’s engagement came one day afterDuneandChallengersstar Zendayawore a diamond ringon her lefthand ring finger to the 2025Golden Globe Awards.

In Dominic’s Patreon post, the father of four reflected on his engagement to Nikki in 1993, in which he recounted that he haphazardly proposed during a spur-of-the-moment trip to Amsterdam without a ring.

“And even though show-business is a messy place for relationships and particularly so for famous couples as they crash and burn in public and are too numerous to mention, with us an example, with Nikki helming this family and my ‘wisdom’ on tap and a study in getting things mostly wrong and yet somehow right at the same time, I am completely confident they will make a successful union.”

A source told PEOPLE Jan. 6 that Holland and Zendaya plan to take their time before scheduling a wedding. “They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” the source added. “They are both busy with work projects.”

The couple are set to costar inChristopher Nolan’s next movie, anadaptationof Homer’sThe Odyssey;Anne HathawayandMatt Damonare also expected to star in the movie, as areRobert Pattinson,Lupita Nyong’oandCharlize Theron, perDeadline.
