An Uber driver came to a passenger’s rescue after the Pennsylvania dad suddenly experienced a brain hemorrhage during a ride.

Justin was reportedly traveling between his apartment in Philadelphia and a new job in Warminster when he suddenly fell ill during the ride. Zvir quickly realized something was wrong.

Zvir pulled over and called 911 before performing CPR. He believed he spent six to eight minutes working on Anderson.

He was diagnosed with asubdural hematoma(brain bleed) due to “an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein,” according to his mom, Deborah Anderson, who organized aGoFundMe campaignafter her son’s medical scare.

Justin “most likely was born” with the condition, known as anAV fistula— an irregular connection between an artery and a vein — “but never knew he had,” his mom added.

Deborah said she is “thankful for the Uber driver’s quick response to call 911.” She believes Zvir is just one reason her son, who has a 17-year-old daughter, is still alive.

Uber tells PEOPLE that they are “incredibly grateful for Mr. Zvir’s quick thinking and heroic actions during such a critical moment.”

“His selflessness and compassion embody the best of our community,” the company adds. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Anderson and his loved ones during this very difficult time, and we wish him a full recovery.”

Justin has undergone multiple procedures to treat the brain bleed, Deborah said. Despite remaining unconscious, she added, her son has made “some positive progression” since he was hospitalized.

More than $7,100 has been raised through the online fundraiser, which will “help cover Justin’s extensive medical bills, surgeries, treatments, future care, therapy expenses, and also to handle Justin’s personal expenses until a disability claim can be opened.”

However, Justin will “need much more time to heal” after experiencing “three ischemic strokes,” including one at the top of his brain stem, according to his mom.

“As a mother, I have hope and faith that Justin is strong enough and can recover, but I know he has a very long and tough road ahead of him,” Deborah wrote.
