Utah Wife Allegedly Shot Serviceman Husband in Head as He Slept, Then Tried to Cover It Up

The wife of a missing Utah National Guardsman is accused of murdering him and trying to cover up the crime.

Matthew Johnson was reported missing on Sept. 23,Fox 13reported. A member of the Utah National Guard, Johnson did not show up to work that day, according to a report fromGephardt Daily.

Johnson was sleeping when he was shot, the informant reportedly said.

The informant said Gledhill then allegedly admitted to moving Johnson’s body and burying it in a shallow grave, Fox 13 reported, before removing and destroying items in the home.

After police obtained search warrants to search the couple’s home, they allegedly found a blood-stained spot on the carpet under the bed in the master bedroom,Gephardt Dailyreported.

Johnson’s body has still not been found.

Salt Lake County jail records indicate that Gledhill is currently in custody, being held on charges of first-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
