The girls ofFigure Skating in Harlemare ready to break more barriers!
They’re the stars of Disney+’s new five-part docuseriesHarlem Ice,which follows the team members and coaches of Figure Skating in Harlem,a figure skating teammade up of young women of color from the famed New York borough as they prepare for competitions, performances and a life-changing global experience.
PEOPLE can exclusively share the first trailer for the show, which debuts on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Some of the featuredfigure skatersinclude sisters Tori and Ashley, newest member Adrianna and senior Ariyana, as they attempt to putHarlem figure skating on the map.
“Being on a team with people of color is very different,” one skater says in the series’ trailer. “It’s a lot of pressure,” adds another.

One of the team’s coaches notes how important the team’s representation is to women of color. “When we skate on the ice, we make a statement. We are girls of color and we’re powerful,” she says.
Figure Skating in Harlem is a first of its kind organization that mentors young girls of color in underprivileged communities, helping to transform their lives and grow in confidence, leadership and academic achievement for their futures.
