Tyler Perry’s first-ever Netflix series has shot to the top of the charts.

Beauty in Black, a two-part series that premiered on Oct. 24, follows Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) — a struggling stripper — whose life takes a turn when she crosses paths with a wealthy family behind a cosmetics dynasty and a sex trafficking scheme.

A parallel storyline follows Roy’s wife, Mallory (Crystle Stewart), who runs the family’s cosmetic company, Beauty in Black. Mallory is also in crisis as she tries to cover up her involvement in a hit-and-run while also coming to terms with her crumbling marriage.

“You can expect twists, turns, betrayal, grit. It’s definitely binge-able,” Taylor Polidore Williams toldGood Day NWA.

The first part ofBeauty in Blackseason 1 ends on a major cliffhanger: Convinced that Kimmie is out to take her job, Body seeks to hit her where it hurts most. She kidnaps Kimmie’s 16-year-old sister, Sylvie (Bailey Tippen), and hints that she’s going to use her to make money in the sex-trafficking ring.

Outside of Kimmie’s motel, the two women get into a physical altercation that ends quickly when Body draws a knife. Boiling over with rage, Kimmie gets in her friend’s car and drives straight into Body. The episode concludes dramatically with the strip club owner pinned between two cars.

Although Perry hasn’t sharedBeauty in Blackseason 1 part 2 spoilers so far, hetold Tudumin October 2024 that the remaining eight episodes will be “mind-blowing.”

He added: “I don’t think anybody’s going to be able to figure out where it’s going and how that rise of power happens with Kimmie.”

The first half ofBeauty in Blackseason 1 was filled with drama, but Williams and Crystle Stewart say that’s only the beginning.

According to Perry’s leading ladies, the real story will begin once Kimmie and Mallory’s worlds collide in the show.

“That’s the story. How we link up. That’s what you have to watch and see. It’s a wild ride leading up to that point,” Stewart teased during an interview withClassix ATLin October 2024.
