Who Is Christina Milian's Husband? All About Matt Pokora

Christian Milianand her husband, Matt Pokora, both got their start as R&B artists.

The actress and the French singer, who performs under the name M. Pokora, met in 2017. The couple have since welcomed two sons, Isaiah in 2020 and Kenna the following year.

Before her relationship with Pokora, Milian datedNick CannonandLil Wayneand was previously married toThe-Dream. TheLove Don’t Cost a Thingactress said that comparing her past romances to her marriage with Pokora is like apples and oranges.

“It’s a completely different relationship,” she toldPage Sixin 2020. “It’s built on a respect for our families, for each other, and on mutual support. Nothing between us is uneasy, and that’s what I think is so special. He can truly be himself and so can I.”

He’s French

Pokora was born in Strasbourg, France in 1985 as Matthieu Tota. His father, André Tota, was a French soccer player and his son originally wanted to play too, but soon decided to pursue music instead. (Pokora remains a massive soccer fan.)

During her 2024 appearance onThe Jennifer Hudson Show, Milian revealed that her family had permanently moved to France after “commuting” back and forth from Hollywood.

“My husband is French and we’ve been together for over seven or eight years and for like the last three or four years, we were commuting back and forth every six months,” she said. “And then we decided to commit to it last year because our kids were going to go to school.”

Pokora was in a boy band before becoming a solo artist

In the early days of his career, Pokora appeared on a French reality show calledPopstarsand became part of a three-person boy band called Linkup.

They had a hit single in France but couldn’t keep the momentum going and eventually broke up.

He’s a successful musician

After leaving Linkup, Pokora struck out on his own and has since released 10 studio albums, many of which have appeared on the French pop charts.

His first album was released in 2004 and his most recent,Epicentre, was released in 2022.

Pokora met Milian in 2017

“We switched numbers, found out we had the same birthday that night, and it was like the stars aligned," Milian recounted of their first night together toOprah Daily.

“He told me, ‘We’re going to have a child together.’ I’ve never had anybody say that to me,” the actress added.

He was on the French version ofThe VoiceandDancing with the Stars

Pokora served as a judge on the French version ofThe Voice— with a twist. Instead of mentoring his peers, Pokora worked as a judge on the kids’ version of the popular singing contest.

He also appeared on the French version ofDancing with the Starsand won the first season.

Like his wife, Pokora has also worked as an actor, most famously playing Robin Hood in the French musicalRobin des Bois.

He and Milian welcomed two children together

The musical couplewelcomed their first child, son Isaiah, on Jan. 20, 2020.

“Once upon a time, there was Isaiah, born January 20, 2020… it’s up to you to write the rest. Welcome my son,” Pokora wrote onInstagram. Isaiah joined big sister Violet, Milian’s daughter with The-Dream.

Pokora and Milian are travel buddies

One of Pokora and Milian’s favorite things to do together is to travel alone or with their kids.

“Once a month, we try to [travel and] stay at least a day or a day and a half. We don’t go too far away from the kids, but we like to do something for ourselves. We need that time to just be adults and not have to worry about anything,” Milian toldBETin 2022. “Every time we do it, it is always really refreshing. I love to travel and I love spontaneity. Thank goodness he has that in him because it’s a good fit for the both of us.”

Milian calls him her “twin flame”

TheFalling Inn Lovestar often refers to Pokora asher twin flame.

“Happy Birthday to my ONE and only twin flame!” she wrote onhis birthday in September 2022. “Love of my life! Best FRIEND-Best DAD- Best Half of me!”
