Justin Hartleyis head-over-heels for his wife,Sofia Pernas, whom he married in 2021.

As actors, the couple met on set years before they began dating. Hartley and Pernas reconnected in 2020 and wed just one year later.

“Itdoesn’t have to be that hard,” Hartley toldHaute Livingof marriage the same year the couple tied the knot. “You just meet the right person and you just go, ‘Oh, this is amazing. It’s just so wonderful!’ You’re so attracted and so attached to this person. You just love this person so much … We are so happy.”

Hartley was previously married toLindsay Kormanfrom 2004 to 2012 andSelling SunsetstarChrishell Stausefrom 2017 to 2020.

In fact, Hartley’s having “the time of his life” with theBlood & Treasureactress. “We hang out at home pretty much all the time. We love it at home.Every night’s a date night,” he also told PEOPLE a month earlier.

Pernas is equally enamored with her husband. “Thank you for being such a giver, and just being all around perfect,” she wrote onInstagramin a sweet birthday tribute to Hartley in January 2022. “Here’s to all our incandescent trips around the sun.”

The daughter of Moroccan mom and Spanish father, according toParade, Pernas and her parents emigrated from Morocco to Orange County when she was 5 years old. Thanks to her diverse background and upbringing, she’s multi-lingual.

“She’s unbelievable,” Hartley toldE! Newsin 2022. “She speaks five languages … She’s so worldly. So knowledgeable.” Now, she lives in Los Angeles with Hartley.

While Pernas hasn’t talked much about her childhood, she has a great relationship with both of her parents, even describing her mom as “the most selfless person” she’s ever known in a 2021 post onInstagram.

Hartley and Pernas first met on the set ofThe Young and the Restlesswhen they acted on the hit soap opera together from 2015 to 2016. However, he was still in a relationship with Stause at the time.

“We didn’t work together that closely, and we didn’t work together that long,” Hartley toldHaute Living. “I knew that she was very kind and very nice. I liked being around her. But I was in a different place in my life.I wasn’t available.”

The duo later reconnected following his 2019 split from the reality star and real estate agent.

“Timing has a lot to do with that,” he explained to the outlet. “I’m very lucky to not only have found ‘the one,’ but I found her when she was available and the timing was right.”

Hartley and Pernas secretly married in May 2021

After hunkering down at Hartley’s house amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, PEOPLE learned that the couple hadquietly tied the knotin May 2021.

“We had a justice of the peace come over to the house with a mask on. Sofia and I got out of the pool, andwe had our bathing suits on,” Hartley later shared during an appearance onThe Tonight Showin October 2024. “[It was] the best wedding in the world.”

A few months after their unconventional wedding, Hartley opened up about married life with his new partner. “Even though we’ve only been married a few months, it’s hard to remember what it was like without her,” he toldHaute Living.

Hartley continued, “When I re-met her, I just knew … It’s not a codependency; I’m just at peace with myself. I feel loved and I feel appreciated. I know she feels the same way. We just have a really great relationship and a really terrific family. It’s healthy and it’s wonderful.”

The duo met on set, and they’ve taken every possible opportunity to act together since. Hartley even welcomed Pernas to the set of his new action dramaTracker, where she got to play a reward seeker named Billie, who was a nemesis of her husband’s character Colter Shaw, according to CBS.

The pair alsounited for a cameoon NBC’sQuantum Leapreboot in 2022.

“It was awesome. I had watched it when I was a kid. I was a fan of it. I looked forward to watching it every week,” Hartley told PEOPLE at the time. “It’s play. It’s not work. No, it’s not work at all.”

“I get this question a lot where it’s like, ‘Do you guys work well together?’ ‘Would you want to work together?’ Because there are people out there that are like, ‘We can’t. We need a break from each other,’ “ Pernas shared of working with her husband.

She added, “I’m like, ‘Yeah, I want to do everything [with him]. We work very well together. So yeah, it’s funny that that’s actually the case.”

In fact, Hartley thinks working together strengthens his relationship with his wife. “I think anytime we have an experience together, it brings us closer together, I guess,” he said. “We’re pretty close though.”

Pernas and Hartley are no strangers to the red carpet, and they love supporting each other at big Hollywood events.

Pernas is a true partner to Hartley, and he often praises their deep emotional relationship.

“We talk about everything,” he told PEOPLE in February. “We talk about things that are going on in the world. We talk politics, we talk about family, friends.”

But they also know how to have fun, and Hartley admires his wife’s sense of humor.

Hartley shares one daughter, Isabella Hartley, with his first wife, Korman, and it seems like Pernas loves spending time with her.

On New Year’s Eve 2023, Pernas posted an album ofphotosfrom the year, including one of Isabella cuddling with her pooch.

Meanwhile, in 2021 Hartley excitedly shared hisholiday plansPEOPLE, revealing that they involved Pernas and Isabella.

“I’m gonna have a very relaxing Christmas,” he said. “I’m gonna be at home with my wife and my daughter and just chill out at home,” he shared.

Pernas has publicly praised Hartley’s parenting skills, taking the opportunity on Father’s Day 2022 to celebrate him.

“Happy Father’s Day, you beautiful, doting men,” she wrote onInstagram, also praising her own father. “Every day should celebrate you, but hell, it’s kinda rad that one’s a holiday. Thank you for your never ending service, care and love.”
