Maxx is one of theNFL’s most impactful defensive players, having received threePro Bowlselections and been named to the NFL’s All-Pro Second Team twice as a defensive end for theLas Vegas Raiders.
Rachel, née Washburn, was born on June 13, 1995, to parents, Mark and Trisha, and has a sister, Ashley and brother, Chad. She first met Maxx while they were student-athletes at Eastern Michigan University in 2016. Maxx was a football star while Rachel made her mark on the soccer field.=
Maxx and Rachel got engaged in 2022 during a trip to Utah and welcomed their daughter Ella Rose on Oct. 13, 2022. The athleticcouple got married during a lavish Nevada weddingin Boulder City on March 4, 2023.
Rachel and Ella are frequently supporting Maxx at Raiders games. In 2024, Rachel wrote a message on Instagram alongside a carousel of images and videos of her and Ella cheering Maxx on.
However, things haven’t always been easy for Maxx and Rachel. In early 2022, Maxx went to rehab and credits Rachel for helping with both his sobriety and redirecting his life to a place where he could enjoy it, finding success and happiness in the process.
“We’ve had a million ups and downs … [we] went through it all, she went through my addictions, she was there through everything,” Maxx said onThe Pivot Podcast. “I give her a ton of credit … she helped change my direction of my, you know, my career, my future.“
While Maxx may be known for his athletic feats on the football field, Rachel built her athletic resume on the soccer field. She first achieved success while leading Hartland High School to a district championship as the team’s captain during her senior year.
She accumulated a multitude of accolades during her high school years including being named Defensive Player of the Year all four years as a Hartland Eagle scholar athlete. She also earned all-district, all-county and all-conference honors during her high school career.
Rachel took her talents to EMU where she was named to the Loyola Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2015. She graduated in 2017, majoring in sports management.
Rachel initially chose to go to EMU because they had great soccer coaches and she liked the campus. What she didn’t know is that she was also choosing the school where she would meet her future husband.
Rachel told PEOPLE that she met Maxx in 2016 while Maxx — two years her junior — had a budding football career as she was wrapping up her college soccer career. The two started out as friends before their relationship blossomed.
“We went to Masa, this Mexican restaurant,” Rachel told PEOPLE. “We became really good friends and started to date two months later.”
In 2022, Maxx and Rachel got engaged while the couple were on a trip together in Utah. Maxx proposed using a ring that he customized with the help of Al the Jeweler, who frequently customizes jewelry for NFL players.
“Maxx fully designed the ring himself,” Rachel told PEOPLE. “Our Airbnb was in these amazing snowy mountains and he proposed right in front of the mountains.”
On Oct. 13, 2022, Maxx and Rachel welcomed their daughter Ella into the world. Maxx wrote an emotional message to Rachel on Instagram about how she has helped him through his ups and downs and would be an amazing mother, while she was pregnant with Ella.
“Since Day 1, You’ve Held Me Down At My Lowest & Highest Moments… From The Eastern Days, Rehab, Literally Everything. You Always Had My Back, Even When I Didn’t Deserve It But You Truly Saved My Life,” Maxxwrote on Instagram. “I’ve Had A Rough Past That I’m Still Working Through & Everyday Battles That You Help Me With Everyday. All This To Say I F***** Love You Forever & Ella Is About To Have The Best Momma On [The] Planet.”
“It means so much,” Rachel told PEOPLE of their marriage. “Marriage is forever; it’s promising no matter what is thrown our way that we will face it together and be the best team ever and love each other no matter what.”

Rachel and Ella can often be found rooting for Maxx at Raiders games. Rachel posts photos and messages of support for Maxx along with posts of her and Ella attending his games to cheer him on.
Rachel has been sharing messages of support for Maxx on social media since their college days at EMU.
“Couldn’t be more proud of everything you’ve accomplished this season. You absolutely killed it! All your hard work really paid off. I’m beyond excited for your future. I love you Maxx ♥️,” Rachelwrote on Instagram.
