Long, who was born Priscilla Renea, adopted her stage name after sharing a story with Hairston.
“I was studying up on this ancient sage named Muni, who sat for weeks and reached a state of nirvana in meditation. And I was sharing this story with my husband. And he was like, that name is dope, but you should pronounce it money. And I was like, hmm,” she recalled to NPR. “And so I adopted the name Muni.”
The last name “Long” followed after the performer heard 2 Chainz’s song “I’m Different.”

“I don’t have time for nonsense. This is one of the most amazing times in my life, and if you can’t celebrate that with me, I’m so sorry, but I’m going to have to leave you behind,” she said. “I think it takes incredible strength to realize that this was the love of my life at one point — and he probably could be really good for me if he got it together — but I’m not willing to put my life, my passion, and my happiness on hold for you to catch up."
