Naomi Biden, and her husband,Peter Neal, are parents.

PresidentJoe Bidenannounced that his eldest granddaughter welcomed her first child, son William Brannon Neal IV, on Jan. 8 in Los Angeles.

“The good news isI’m a great-grandfatheras of today,” he said during a press conference about the ongoing California fires, according to a White House pool report. Shortly after, first ladyJill Bidenshared a photo of her and President Bidenwith their great-grandchild.

He and Naomi started dating in 2018

He is a former White House intern

Neal has been active in politics for years. According toGuest of a Guest, he interned forHillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and went on to become a White House intern for the Obama-Biden administration, where Naomi’s grandfather served as PresidentBarack Obama’s vice president.

He and Naomi are both law school graduates

On May 16, 2022, Neal received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, joining the vaunted ranks of his significant other, who is a Columbia Law School graduate.

Neal shareda videoof him walking across the graduation stage to accept his diploma on Instagram. According tohis LinkedIn, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in political communications from George Washington University.

He joined the Army Reserve

Neal enlisted in the Army Reserve in December 2022, according to hisInstagram. He completed his basic training in May 2023.

He designed Naomi’s engagement ring with a family heirloom

Neal proposed to Naomi on Sept. 4, 2021, near his childhood home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the White Houserevealed to PEOPLE.

The ring he gave his bride-to-be holds sentimental value as the band was originally a part of Neal’s grandmother’s engagement ring.

Naomi shared the personal news on Instagram with a selfie of the pair.

“Forever🤍,” she wrote, which Neal also postedon Instagram.

He and Naomi married in 2022

Naomi and Neal married on theWhite House’s South Lawnon Nov. 19, 2022, in front of family and friends.

Speaking with theAssociated Press, Michael LaRosa, then-press secretary for Dr. Biden, confirmed that “the Biden family will be paying for the wedding activities that occur at the White House,” as is customary.

He and Naomi founded the online tool My CARES Act Benefits amid the COVID-19 pandemic

In 2020, the couple launched an online tool called My CARES Act Benefits to help individuals and small businesses calculate their CARES Act benefit eligibility. After taking the quiz, users have access to professionals who may be able to provide pro bono legal assistance.

“While not perfect, we hope that this website can provide a general framework on what you may qualify for, in addition to a number of resources that may provide you with more authoritative information on the CARES Act provisions.”

He and Naomi have attended numerous White House events

Neal has supported Naomi and her family on different occasions. He attended PresidentBiden’s 2020 presidential election partyandhis inaugurationthat followed in January 2021.

Since then, the couple have attended numerous White House events, including state dinners and the2024 Correspondents’ Association dinner.

They welcomed their first child in January 2025
