Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancolaand her fiancé, Justin May, took their relationship to the next level when theyannounced their engagementin April 2024.

Previously, Giancola has raved about her relationship with May during an episode of theJersey Shorespinoff series,Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, opening up about the positive impact he has had on her since entering her life, perE! Online.

“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” she said. “Justin coming into my life made my life a million times better. He is just everything I could ever ask for in a man. He’s patient. He’s supportive, and I just love and adore him so much.”

He used to be a bouncer

During an episode ofJersey Shore: Family Vacation, Giancola shared that May was previously a bouncer and bartender at Karma, a nightclub the group used to frequent.

She joked that he had seen her cry a lot and even once carried castmate,Deena Cortese, out of the club after she was punched in the face.

“I just feel like it was kind of weird how he was part of my life prior, in the beginning years,” Giancola toldEntertainment Tonightin August 2023.

Giancola and May confirmed they were dating in November 2021

Months after ending her engagement with her ex-fiancéChristian Biscardi, Giancoladebuted her new relationshipon social media.

During Thanksgiving in 2021, Giancola featured May in a post onX, including a photo of them holding hands and smiling together.

“Happy Thanksgiving” she captioned the snap.

Since introducing their relationship, the couple have marked several milestones on Instagram.

“It’s been an amazing year,” May captioned the post.

“He’s truly amazing,” she said. “I just love him so much. He’s very supportive and him being the way that he is made it a lot easier for me to decide to come back in general. It’s kind of like a breath of fresh air, like I didn’t have to worry about him.”

Giancola continued, “He was like, ‘Go for it. I support you.’ He’s very supportive and he’s awesome and I’m so thankful for that, to be honest with you.”

“It’s not like we’re going at the pool all day. Like we can’t just hang out at the pool,” she said. “Like, it’s also kind of work, in a sense. You have to get used to the cameras and the filming and there’s people everywhere like 24/7 and that is a little bit of an adjustment, especially for him.”

They got engaged in March 2024

After dating for nearly three years, Giancola announced onInstagramthat she was engaged to her longtime boyfriend in April 2024.

“Life update: Fiancé 💍🥹♥️ 3.16.24,” she captioned the post. “The easiest question I’ve ever answered.. happiest & luckiest girl in the world 😭 I’ll love you forever, and then some 🤍 #Futurewifey #Engaged.”

Giancola added, “Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Within the carousel, she featured photos of her showing off her engagement ring as well as glimpses of their engagement party.

May also shared his excitement onInstagram, sharing snaps of the two posing with the ring. “She said yes,” he wrote in the caption. “Can’t wait to Marry my best friend! Love you so much, babe! ❤️💍 can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you!”

He was supportive of Giancola through her IVF journey

Giancola has been vocal about the highs and lows of her relationship while filmingJersey Shore: Family Vacation. In an episode that aired in November 2024, the reality staropened up about a “devastating” miscarriageshe experienced while completing a round of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

“This has been a very long process,” she said in her confessional. “It’s been a lot of shots, it’s been a lot of hormones. Just the thought of even being pregnant was such a magical moment for me, and just to have that taken away. It’s devastating for me.”

While retelling the difficult moment, she also shared that May was a big part of supporting her on their IVF journey.
