In a post shared toReddit, the anonymous, 32-year-old woman writes that her brother’s girlfriend, Emily, seemed fine at last year’s Thanksgiving celebration — until it came time to break bread.

“Everything was fine until we sat down to eat,” she writes. “Emily announced she couldn’t eat most of the food because it wasn’t ‘organic’ or ‘clean.’ She loudly criticized the dishes I spent hours making, saying things like, ‘I can’t believe people still cook with butter—it’s so unhealthy!’ She even went as far as lecturing my dad about how his wine wasn’t ‘natural.’ "

Woman Says She Won’t Host Thanksgiving Again After In-Law’s Took all the Leftovers Last Year

The post continues: “The worst part? She brought her own organic food and proceeded to heat it up in my kitchen without asking.”

When the woman “gently suggested she could’ve mentioned her preferences beforehand,” Emily “rolled her eyes and said, ‘I didn’t think I’d need to, considering how aware people are of health these days,’ " she writes.

This year, the woman adds, she decided not to invite Emily.

“When my brother asked why, I told him the truth: her behavior last year was disrespectful, and I didn’t want a repeat,” she writes. “He called me ‘petty’ and said I was punishing her for being health-conscious. My mom agrees with me, but a few other family members think I’m overreacting and should give her another chance.”

Commenters, however, don’t think the Reddit poster is overreacting at all.

Of Emily, one commenter writes, “She was rude and made the dinner uncomfortable for everyone. You’re not obligated to invite someone who disrespects your efforts, especially when she ignored your hospitality.”

Added another: “I don’t believe the issue is butter or any other food ingredient. I think this chick is an arrogant, elitist and condescending jerk … She has a mean streak. I’d permanently ban her from my house. And I’d have no problem telling that to her in person.”
