Samantha Hanrattyis loving life as a new mom!

“Honestly, he is literally the embodiment of prayers and dreams into a person,” Hanratty told PEOPLE exclusively of her son, whose name she and husband Christian DeAnda have yet to reveal.

“He’s just the greatest gift in the world,” she continued. “I am so obsessively in love with him. It is the best.”

Added Hanratty: “Being a mom is amazing, but being his mom is what I’m meant to be.”

According to Hanratty, she was expecting her son while shootingYellowjackets' “entire” latest season.

“That in itself is kind of traumatic,” she told PEOPLE. “Your body’s making a life and whatnot, so … it was very physically taxing.”

However, Hanratty explained that being pregnant while shooting “helps get into character, because we’re really out there.”

“We’re really running, we’re really sweating, we’re really sometimes bleeding — so yeah, it’s definitely very real,” she continued.
